Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026
This policy explains what personal information Hotend (the operator of Hotend) collects, how we use it, and your rights. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
- Account: your email address and, optionally, your name. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email and basic profile from them.
- Usage: records needed to run the Service — e.g. how many slices you’ve used against your plan, and which printers are linked to your account.
- Printer & slicing data: models you upload for slicing, and printer status relayed between your device and your printer.
- Camera images (only if you enable AI detection): webcam snapshots may be sent to our servers to check prints for failures. They are processed for that purpose and are not used to identify you or sold to anyone.
- Payment: handled by Lemon Squeezy. We receive confirmation of your plan and purchase, but we do not store your card details.
- Technical: basic logs such as IP address and device/browser info, for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
To provide and secure the Service, run your subscription, respond to support requests, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only service providers who help us operate — our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy), hosting/infrastructure, and sign-in providers you choose (Google/GitHub) — and where required by law.
Cookies
We use a single sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. Models you upload stay in your account’s model library until you delete them there; temporary slicer working files are removed automatically within 14 days. Uploaded models are never used for training, shared or sold. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. Some records may be retained where the law requires.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and can complain if you believe we’ve mishandled it. Contact us and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Security
Passwords are stored hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit, and access to account data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
